Smallhold farmer and journalist Daniel Butler goes undercover to investigate whether free range eggs really are ’free range’. Daniel discovers that in many cases behind the packaging of quaint country scenes the hens are in fact kept in appalling conditions, and there is a worringly high use of anti-biotics.

Daniel also investigates eggs produced under the RSPB’s Freedom Foods scheme and questions whether the birds really are free from pain and free to behave naturally.
